The New England Patriots' honorary captain for Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium is a two-time Super Bowl champion.
Vince Wilfork, who retired in 2017 after signing a one-day contract with the Patriots, will serve as their honorary captain.

Wilfork was selected by New England in the first round of the 2004 NFL Draft and won the Super Bowl with the Patriots in his rookie season and his final campaign with the team in 2014. The defensive tackle helped the Patriots earn a 4-3 record in AFC Championship Games during his career. He likely will one day be enshrined in the Patriots' Hall of Fame at Gillette Stadium.
Sunday will be the eighth consecutive AFC Championship Game appearance for the Patriots. If the Pats upset the Chiefs, they would become the third team in NFL history to reach the Super Bowl three seasons or more in a row. The last team to accomplish that feat was the Buffalo Bills in the 1990s.
The Chiefs are hosting the AFC title game for the first time and a victory would end their nearly five-decade long Super Bowl appearance drought.
