A man was killed Friday morning in a hit-and-run pedestrian crash in Haverhill, Massachusetts.
The crash was reported at 5:14 a.m. near the intersection of Main and Water streets, according to police. The victim, identified as 59-year-old Haverhill resident Charles Burrill, died at the scene, authorities said.
Officials with Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, where Burrill was employed, released a statement on his passing:
"Our hospital community is devastated to learn of the passing of Chuck Burrill who was a Housekeeper at Anna Jaques for the past 18 years. Chuck was a well-known and deeply valued member of our staff. Our thoughts and prayers are with Chuck’s family - and his AJH housekeeping family during this very sad time," read the statement.
State and local police say they're looking for a silver or gray PT Cruiser in connection with the fatal crash.
"It's making me nervous because I keep saying somebody is going to get hit there," Haverhill resident Nancy Crowley said.
Sean Nickerson, who owns a fitness center near the scene, said he has never seen an incident like this in the 12 years he's owned his business.

"It's always surprising," he said. "It's sad, you know?"
"Over the last eight years when they were doing a lot of road work, a lot of detours," Nickerson said. "But never, never an incident. So it's just an unfortunate tragedy."
NBC10 Boston's Sky Ranger helicopter was over the scene, where a tent in the middle of the street was surrounded by responding units.
Details on what led up to the crash were not immediately available, and authorities said they're not releasing any surveillance images at this time.
The investigation into the fatal crash is ongoing.
