A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Newmarket, New Hampshire, on Thursday afternoon, and the driver of the suspected vehicle is in the hospital on life support after authorities responded to a medical emergency.
The accident occurred around 3 p.m. on Grant Road, according to Lt. Jerome Maslan of the New Hampshire State Police.
He said state police were looking for a black Volvo with New Hampshire license plates that should have extensive front end damage. The vehicle was later recovered about an hour and a half later when police responded to a call of an unconscious person on the front lawn of a residence on South Main Street, where they found their suspected driver and vehicle.
The Volvo is registered to 44-year-old Peter Wallace of Newmarket, who was taken to Exeter Hospital and is on life support.
The pedestrian killed has been identified as 79-year-old Charles Dearborn of Newmarket.
