The Navy veteran and Rhodes scholar was elected mayor of South Bend in 2011 at age 29, making him the youngest mayor of a U.S. city with at least 100,000 residents. He was re-elected in 2015.
Buttigieg announced in January he was forming an exploratory committee for a 2020 presidential bid.
Northeastern is hosting him as part of a speaker series called "The Civic Experience." He will be talking about the influence of millennials in driving the national political agenda.
