Police: Drunk Man Involved in SWAT Standoff Threatened to Shoot Paramedics, Cops

A SWAT situation in Gilmanton, New Hampshire, ended peacefully after a three hour-long standoff Thursday.

Gilmanton Police Chief Joseph Collins tells necn a neighbor called reporting that a man in his 50s was drunk and belligerent with a cut on his head.

When paramedics arrived, the man threatened to shoot them and any police officer who went on his property.

It took nearly three hours and several tear gas bombs to get the suspect to surrender.

"Anytime anyone makes a threat with a firearm, we take it seriously," Chief Collins said.

The suspect was taken into custody and is charged with criminal threatening.

Whether or not he had any weapons in his home is still under investigation.
