Man Shot, Killed Outside Massachusetts Hookah Bar and Lounge

An Everett man was shot and killed after leaving Karma Lounge around 1 a.m.

A man was shot and killed outside a hookah lounge and bar in Everett, Massachusetts, early Saturday morning.

Family members tell NBC10 Boston the victim is 42-year-old Jarrod Harris, a father from Everett. They grieved Saturday night on the sidewalk where he took his last breaths, raising candles to honor him.

Police say they received a call around 1 a.m. reporting a shooting outside of Karma Lounge, in the area of Ferry Street and Broadway.

The victim was leaving the lounge with a woman when a fight broke out between the couple and several individuals. Authorities say multiple shots were fired, and the man was struck.

Good Samaritans who were in the area tried to provide first aid to the victim before he was rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Neighboring business officials are not happy with the violence that took place on their block and say it has nothing to do with the establishments in the area.

“Unfortunately, nightlife and then alcohol brings those type of situations,” said Antoni Avanti, a spokesperson for Winners Sports Bar and Grill, which is the bar next door to Karma Lounge. “The establishment has great security. I know most of them, and it’s just unfortunate that you have sometimes knuckleheads that come into the area and they think they can do whatever they want.”

Officials have not identified the victim, and no arrests have been made in the fatal shooting. An active investigation is ongoing.
