Police: Investigation Into Spikes' Car “Progressing”

Massachusetts State Police say they are making substantial progress in determining whether Spikes’ Maybach was the car that struck a Nissan Murano, injuring three people.

The investigation into the car of former New England Patriots player Brandon Spikes, which was found abandoned near the scene of an accident in Foxboro, Massachusetts, is progressing, according to law officials.

Massachusetts State Police say they are making substantial progress in determining whether Spikes’ Maybach, which was found abandoned in a highway median, was the car that struck a Nissan Murano, injuring three people.

Police say they are continuing to determine who was driving the car at the time. The driver of the car reported hitting a deer around 3:30 Sunday morning through the car’s on-board navigation system.

Around the same time, troopers got a report that a car in the same area as the abandoned car had been rear-ended by a vehicle the occupants did not see. Three people - a 52-year-old man, a 32-year-old woman and a 12-year-old boy, all from Billerica - were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, authorities said.

So far, no connection has been established and no charges have been filed. Police say they have contacted Spikes and are investigating whether the incidents are related.

The Patriots released Spikes from the team Monday after his car was discovered.
