Police: Man Assaulted Woman, Set House on Fire

A man is accused of assaulting a woman and lighting a house on fire Wednesday evening in what police are calling a domestic incident in Lynn, Massachusetts.

Fire crews responded shortly before 8:30 p.m. and quickly put out the blaze on Glenwood Road, police said. The fire was contained to the basement.

The suspect, a 54-year-old man, was evaluated at a nearby hospital after being found near the scene. The 49-year-old woman was taken to a Boston hospital to be treated for injuries. The nature of those injuries was not made clear.

Neither of the people involved has been identified, and police would not comment on what charges may be filed.

Animal control was called in to wrangle pigs that were found on the scene. Police believe they are from the home where the fire was set.
