Police: Officer Shot Man Who Shot Car

A shooting suspect was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital after being shot by a police officer in Chelsea early Sunday morning.

Police say 31-year-old Igor Peulic of Chelsea opened fire on a vehicle with at least one person inside around 12:30 a.m. in front of the Chelsea Walk Pub, then ran on foot from Broadway to Chestnut Street before they caught up with him.

Peulic refused to drop his weapon, police said. An officer shot him in the chest.

The suspect is expected to survive. No one was hit by the shots Peulic allegedly fired.

The Suffolk County District Attorney's Office and the Professional Standards Division of Chelsea Police are investigating the incident.
