Veterans Graves Robbed of Brass in Hingham, Mass.

Police are actively seeking a suspect

Police in Hingham, Massachusetts, are seeking information regarding the theft of veterans grave markers from the High Street Cemetery. Since May 19, three thefts have been reported.

Each bronze marker was engraved with the name of the veteran, military service branch, date of birth and date of death. They were stolen from the Cross Street side of the cemetery.

Police do not have an exact time frame in which the markers were stolen, but they believe they were taken due their metal value. Each marker is valued at $350. It's not clear if the veterans themselves were targeted.

The Hingham Department of Veterans Services is replacing the markers. Those with any information regarding the crime are asked to call the Hingham Police Department at 781-749-1212.
