Man Injured in Officer-Involved Shooting in Plymouth, Massachusetts

A man who was involved in a domestic dispute with his wife was transported to the hospital after being shot by police officers Thursday evening, according to officials.

Police responded to the 6:10 p.m. domestic disturbance call in Plymouth, Massachusetts on the 600 block of Federal Furnace Road.

The 36-year-old man fired shots into a vehicle that his 41-year-old wife was in. She fled the scene looking for help, and the husband went back into the house, according to Plymouth police.

When officers arrived on scene, the man came out of the house and fired at officers. Law enforcement returned fire, shooting the suspect.

The man, who has not been identified, was transported to a Boston area hospital. The extent of his injuries is not known.

No officers were injured. Seven were transported from the scene for precautionary reasons, however. 

Police say the suspect was previously known to the department.

A heavy police presence was still on scene, including both State and local police, around 10 p.m. Thursday night.

The incident is under investigation.
