Police: Speeding Was a Factor in Fatal Braintree Crash

Authorities in Massachusetts say a man killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Sunday may have been driving at 100 mph leading up to the accident.

Thirty-six-year-old Daniel Karimi was identified by Braintree police as the person killed in the crash on Quincy Avenue in front of the Pan Asia Restaurant Sunday evening.

According to witness statements, Karimi lost control of his car at a slight bend in the road after going an estimated 100 mph.

Karimi's vehicle struck two other cars, and three others - a 53-year-old Framingham woman driving one car, her 60-year-old passenger and a 39-year-old Braintree man driving another car - were taken to South Shore Hospital to have non-life threatening injuries checked out.

Police say that a person close to Karimi, who had addresses in Brockton and Washington state, told them that all of his family lives in Kenya, and that they've notified that family, as well.

The crash is still under investigation, and police add no charges will be filed against either of the surviving drivers.
