Police Standoff With Barricaded Suspect in Gloucester, Massachusetts Ends Peacefully

The scene is now clear after an hours-long police standoff with a suspect who barricaded himself inside a home in Gloucester, Massachusetts on Tuesday afternoon.

The mayor's office sent out an alert around 3:20 p.m. saying that Gloucester police and the Northeast Law Enforcement Council were on scene with a barricaded suspect on Munsey Lane.

The suspect was believed to be alone in the house and the city said there was not believed to be any danger to the general public. Police did not say whether the suspect was armed. 

The area was cordoned off, and residents were urged to stay away while the situation unfolded.

Around 5 p.m., Gloucester police said the scene was clear and an adult male had been taken into custody for a mental health evaluation.
