Police Investigating Shooting Incident in Billerica Neighborhood

Authorities in Billerica, Massachusetts are investigating a shooting incident that occurred Thursday afternoon.

Police say they received a call on Thursday after a man got out of his vehicle and shot his gun several times at a townhouse complex on Boston Road.

The incident caught residents in the area off guard.

Steven Beachy has lived in the complex for seven years and does not remember any other incidents like this happening in the neighborhood.

Beachy is a licensed gun owner and can't believe anyone would fire into the open.

"It's a little bit disconcerting when someone is willing to get out and shoot in a main fairway," he said.

Beachy says he is surprised but not alarmed.

"I hope it's one random act and it doesn't happen again," he said. "But all we can do is be vigilant."

According to authorities, the suspect is described as a bald male. When he left the scene, he drove north on Boston Road toward Lowell in either a grey Toyota Camry or a Honda Accord.

Police have been patrolling the area since Thursday.

The incident is currently under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact Billerica Police at 978-671-0900.
