MBTA commuter rail passengers could see delays Friday evening due to a train derailment that happened in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, earlier in the day.
Pictures posted on Twitter Friday afternoon by MBTA spokesperson Joe Pesaturo show a PanAm freight train visibly derailed.
According to Pesturo, there was no immediate impact on the MBTA commuter service as of early Friday afternoon.
Pesaturo warned that delays could occur during the evening commute if the MBTA were not able to clear the railways.
