Five Winning Powerball Tickets Sold in Massachusetts

State lottery officials said one $150,000 winning Powerball ticket was sold as well as four $50,000 tickets

They might not have matched all six numbers in the Wednesday night Powerball drawing to win the third-largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history, but five people in Massachusetts are taking home some serious cash.

State lottery officials said one $150,000 winning Powerball ticket was sold at Market Basket in Chelmsford. The store will receive a $1,500 bonus for the sale.

Four other stores in Holliston, Milford, Saugus, and West Bridgewater each sold $50,000 winning Powerball tickets. Each location will receive a $500 bonus for the sales.

All five tickets matched four of the first five numbers drawn, as well as the Powerball number. In the $150,000 winning ticket, the odds were increased by including the Power Play option for $1.

The big jackpot, however, was in Wisconsin, where a lucky winner will get to claim an estimated $768.4 million with a cash option of $477 million. The winning numbers were 16, 20, 37, 44, 62 and the Powerball number was 12.

Powerball is played in 44 states, plus Washington, D.C., the U.S Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
