Police radio transmissions are providing a better understanding of the tragic timeline Sunday when a Weymouth, Massachusetts police officer and an innocent bystander were shot and killed.
It's 7:46 a.m. Sunday. Officer Michael Chesna has been shot several times in the head and chest by alleged gunman Emanuel Lopes.
Police said the 20-year-old suspect first attacked Chesna with a rock, then got the officer's gun and opened fire.
The timeline of the radio transmission between Weymouth fire and police starts at 7:32 a.m.
"Caller reports an erratic operator Route 18 north. Should be coming up to the hospital. A late model white BMW sedan, crossing yellow line and speeding."
That BMW crashes into another car as officers head to the scene.
"The operator of the BMW fled on foot somewhere behind the parking garage."
Weymouth police begin searching for the suspect.
"I’m going to head up there, see if I can track this guy."
At 7:39 a.m., an officer says that the suspect has run off.

"He's running back that direct back towards (inaudible) from here."
At the same time, dispatch tells officers they're getting information on the suspect.
"I just got a 911 call from the register owner's daughter of that white BMW a (redacted) saying her boyfriend Manny Lopes, 10/4/1997, was acting erratically, had bipolar issues, and manic episodes, took the car about 30 minutes ago."
There is then yelling at 7:45 a.m., 14 minutes after the initial call for the erratic driver.
Then the transmission about a minute later that there is an officer down.
"Officer down. Officer down. Get as much help here as we can."
Police and fire crews rushed to help Chesna.
"Deputy, I can't call right now. Worse case scenario right now."
