Report: Patrick's Administration Diverted Almost $27M in Public Money

The administration of Massachusetts' former Gov. Deval Patrick diverted nearly $27 million in public funds to accounts that weren't in the state's budget, the Boston Herald Reports.

According to the Herald's investigation, the accounts paid for a $1.35 million trade junket expense, advertising contracts and a deal with a tourism venture that was federally subsidized.

The Herald says it found that Patrick's administration diverted the money from agencies including the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority and Massport in order to work around Beacon Hill and budget cutbacks during the recession.
