Report: Patriots' Danny Amendola to Sign With Dolphins

Wide receiver Danny Amendola is leaving the New England Patriots, according to the NFL Network.

NFL Network anchor Dan Hellie tweeted Tuesday that Amendola is expected to sign with the Miami Dolphins, according to a source.

Fox Sports writer Peter Schrager tweeted Tuesday that Amendola is signing a 2-year, $12 million deal with $8.25 million guaranteed, per a source.

Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman responded to the reports Tuesday afternoon, posting a picture of him and Amendola to Instagram and telling his friend to save him a seat in South Beach.

Tom Brady shared his own Instagram post Tuesday night, calling Amendola a teammate, friend, brother, leader and champion.

Amendola has become a fan favorite in recent years. His postseason heroics even earned him the nickname Danny "Playoff" Amendola from teammate Rob Gronkowski.

After battling injuries in 2016, the 5-foot-11, 180-pound receiver had some of the best moments of his five years with the Patriots during their last two playoff runs.

It started in 2017 with his touchdown catch and game-tying 2-point conversion during New England's improbable comeback win over Atlanta in the Super Bowl.

This past postseason, he caught 11 passes for 112 yards against Tennessee, hauled in two touchdowns in the AFC title game win over Jacksonville, and then caught eight passes for 152 yards in the Super Bowl loss to Philadelphia.

Amendola has also been a regular in the gossip pages due to his relationship with Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Olivia Culpo. The two are reportedly vacationing in the Bahamas this week.
