Seasonable Weather, Temps Gives Us Spring Feeling

At 50 degrees and even a little warmer in parts of southern New England, and Burlington, Vermont not getting below 32 degrees Monday morning, New England had the warmest weather in about four weeks.

A cold front that brought snow showers to the mountains Monday night, was pushed offshore Tuesday morning and we have cooler, more seasonable weather Tuesday. Plenty of sunshine with a high temperature in the 30s to lower 40s from north to south. A bit of a breeze from the northwest 15 to 20 mph.

High-pressure passes over Tuesday night and Wednesday and continues with a mostly clear sky. Lows Tuesday night in the teens and 20s. Highs Wednesday again near 40 degrees.

A warm front may generate a bit of snow in the mountains Wednesday night. Otherwise, it’s the leading edge of mild air that is here for Thursday and Friday. With a mixture of sun and clouds, high temperatures on Thursday should be in the low 50s.

It’ll become windy later Thursday into Friday as a major storm sweeps up through the Great Lakes states. Another blizzard is heading for the central plains into Minnesota. And another severe weather outbreak for the southern states. That front will get into New England Friday with a period of rain, high temperature near 60 degrees. We may have a wind advisory Friday for gusts past 45 mph.

Low-pressure well to our north Friday night pushes a cold front through. That means drier weather for Saturday, with a high temperature again in the 50s in southern New England.

Cold air works in through the hills, and there’s a chance of some upslope snow at the ski resorts, where temperatures will be close to freezing. The early call for St. Patrick’s Day Sunday is for plenty of sunshine. However, there is a weak disturbance but it should just dim the sun a bit. With a high temperature in the 30s north and 40s south.

Colder air is here for the beginning of next week and we may end up with another wintry storm. Stay ahead of it with our First Alert 10-Day Forecast.
