Six-Year-Old Finds Her Forever Family

Six-year-old Mya Mara has just been adopted into her forever family -- and a local nonprofit is making sure she feels at home.

The Rise Above Foundation lent a helping hand by helping the family turn their unfinished attic into a playroom just for Mya. It's part of the organization's goal of supporting Massachusetts children in foster care.

"This has been such a great opportunity and to see Mya have this room for herself and just be a kid is just amazing," said her mother, Tammi Mara.

"We took her in over five years ago now. She’s been part of our family forever," added her father, John Mara. "So it’s awesome just to see as we close that chapter on everything, to see this be done for her. It's a special place where she can come up."
