Skating Path and Holiday Market Coming to Boston's City Hall Plaza

Attractions set to open in early December

New attractions are coming to Boston's City Hall Plaza for the holiday season.

Mayor Marty Walsh announced Friday that Berkshire Bank is partnering with City Hall Plaza to bring year-round seasonal activities for the next three years.

The first set of attractions, called Boston Winter, are set to open in early December and will feature New England's first custom designed outdoor skating path. The path measures nearly 11,000 square feet. It will remain open through February.

Bostonians can receive ice skating lessons with the rink's learn-to-skate programs and experience special events. Berkshire Bank offers discounted entry to the skating path for educators, veterans and students.

A holiday shopping market will also open at the plaza featuring a variety of boutique style shops from local to international vendors. vendors are 60 percent local including Boston Olive Oil Company, Etsy Artists of Boston, LovePop and The Grommet. 

Other activities for the winter season include Santa's house and a pedal-powered Holiday Tree.
