Skydiver Rescued From Dunstable Tree

Dunstable Police and Fire Departments saved Aatif Rathod, a skydiver who was stuck between 60 to 80 feet up a tree in Dunstable.

First responders received a report Sunday evening that a skydiver became stuck in a tree in the area of 223 River St.

The Northeast Massachusetts Technical Rescue Team and Nashua Fire Department responded to the scene at the request of Dunstable Police and Fire. The man suffered non-life threatening injuries and was communicating verbally with rescuers the whole time.

Rathod told NBC Boston that he was stuck in a tree after the skydive went wrong. He yelled for help and a neighbor's dog helped call attention to his cries. He is an experienced jumper with over 300 jumps. This one just went horribly wrong.

Dunstable Police Chief James Dow said, "We are glad that this gentleman was able to be brought to safety to the ground without injury. This would not have been possible without the support of multiple agencies."

Pepperell Fire Department provided station coverage to Dunstable during the long evening.
