Crews Extinguish Small Plane Fire at Logan Airport

Firefighting crews at Boston's Logan International Airport poured foam on a small fire that started in the undercarriage of a single-engine plane, but there were no reports of injuries.

Airport spokeswoman Jennifer Mehigan says the private plane was on a taxiway preparing for takeoff at about 11 a.m. Wednesday when the pilot reported a flat tire and a problem with the brakes.

The brakes were stuck, causing friction, which caused the fire.

The plane's occupants all got out safely. The plane seats up to six but Mehigan was unsure how many people were on board at the time.

The aircraft was towed from the taxiway and airport operations were unaffected.
