Smoke from Calif. Wildfires Could Reach New England This Week

Smoke from the two catastrophic wildfires in California could be visible in New England this week.

According to satellite maps from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), smoke is moving west toward the Pacific Ocean, but some of the smoke is projected to move all the way to the Northeast.

The Boston Globe reported that smoke particles will travel across the country in a jet stream above clouds. By the time the smoke hits the East, it will look like a thin layer of haze. Rainy weather and clouds will hide the smoke until Tuesday.

Smoke that will linger throughout the rest of the week will also be hidden by rain and possibly snow through the Northeast.

The smoke from the two wildfires that destroyed thousands of homes and killed over 30 people, should not affect the health of people in the New England area.
