Warm, southwest winds are blowing across New England Tuesday and boosting our temperatures into the 70s not only for Southern New England, but all the way to the North Country by the end of the day.
Not only is the new air mild, but it’s also humid – enough to result in areas of fog, clouds and perhaps some spotty drizzle overnight Tuesday night. However, this new air has no meaningful atmospheric disturbance moving through. No substantial rain is anticipated through Wednesday.
Nonetheless, with a southwest wind continuing Wednesday, we’ll find another day of highs in the 70s with some lower 80s, where breaks of sun overcome morning clouds and another day of noticeable humidity.
By Wednesday afternoon, a cold front will be on the move southward through Maine, sending afternoon and evening temperatures tumbling from north to south in the Pine Tree State. It will eventually spread that cool air into Central and Eastern New England by Wednesday night.
All the while, a storm center drawing east through Canada will capitalize on this clash of warm and cool air to deliver rain to New England Thursday into Thursday night, with the heaviest rain anticipated in the latter portion of the day into night as moisture from Hurricane Michael briefly enhances the rainfall.
