Street Cleaning Parking Fines Could More Than Double

The Boston City Council is set to vote on an ordinance that would establish a pilot program

Parking fines acquired during street cleanings in Boston could soon more than double.

The Boston City Council is set to vote on an ordinance that would establish a pilot program in certain areas of the city, according to BostInno.

Fines could increase from $40 to $90, and the 21-day late fee would jump from $13 to $30.

Mayor Marty Walsh has urged the council to act on this without delay.

In April, Walsh signed a similar ordinance that created a pilot program around raising parking ticket fines during Fenway Park events.
