Sunny Skies, Breezy Air Kicks Off the Week

New refreshing air from Canada pushing into New England today.

The front that came through with all the thunderstorms yesterday and overnight, is just pushing off the coast of Maine and east of Cape Cod right now. It was a cold front, so most of New England is colder today. The exception is at the beach, the wind has shifted and is now from west to east, that means the warmest weather is at the beach for a change. High temperature will range from the 50s in western and northern New England, with some mountain rain and snow showers, to the 60s to near 70° with almost total sunshine at the coast. Wind from the west 15 to 20 mph.

High pressure from Canada goes right over us tonight, a frost and freeze is possible in the normal cold spots with low temperatures in the 30s and 40s, to low 50s near the coast.

A warm front approaches quickly from the west tomorrow, so after a cool sunny start we will have clouds increasing in western and southern New England. There may be a shower in western Massachusetts or Connecticut before the day is done. High temperature in the 60s, 50s north, wind increases from the southwest.

That warm front will tend to stall over New England with gradual increasing warmth and humidity Wednesday and Thursday, that also means a chance of showers and thunderstorms. It will not be raining all the time, and there will be breaks of sunshine, but when it rains it can briefly downpour, and a few thunderstorms are also possible. High temperature in the 70s Wednesday, close to 80° Thursday.

A new cool front from Canada should bring in seasonable warmth and a return to sunshine by late in the week, and hopefully the weekend. Stay tuned to our First Alert 10-Day Forecast for the latest developments.
