Risk of Rain, Thunderstorms Late Wednesday

Gusty winds on Wednesday will drive temperatures up close to 80 degrees around Greater Boston and will deliver a touch of humidity in the air.

There will be some sunshine during the day, but still a fair amount of clouds and even a few spot showers are likely from time to time, mainly in far northern New England and along the South Coast. Temperatures will be cooler in both of those spots, mainly in the 60s to near 70.

Late Wednesday, and especially overnight, the risk of rain and storms increases. It’s entirely possible you’ll be woken up by some thunder overnight as temperatures stay in the 60s to near 70 in many cases.

Early on Thursday we’ll still wake up with a warm and muggy feel in the air, along with scattered showers, downpours, and thunderstorms. The risk of rain starts to go down during the afternoon as a cold front swings through, bringing less humid air and a clearing trend. Highs will mainly be in the 70s.

High pressure then builds in with lots of sunshine Friday, into the weekend. Temperatures for most of New England will be in the 70s to near 80 for many, coolest at the coast with a little seabreeze.

At this point, next week looks to be close to average temperature-wise, with lots of 70.
