Suspected Gang Member Arrested at Relative's Funeral in Worcester

Kiosnel Pineiro, 21, was taken into custody after services ended at Hope Cemetery

A suspected gang member wanted for allegedly threatening to kill a pregnant woman as well as failing to show up for a court appearance on drug charges was arrested Friday by Massachusetts State Police at a family member's funeral.

Kiosnel Pineiro, 21, was taken into custody without incident around noon at Hope Cemetery in Worcester by state police gang unit troopers and members of the Worcester Police Gang Unit.

Authorities said they had information that Pineiro might be attending the funeral service, so they set up surveillance. After observing him entering the funeral home, he was followed to the cemetery, where he was arrested after the services ended and he was getting in a vehicle to leave.

Police said Pineiro had made threats last month in reference to killing a pregnant woman. He also posted multiple photos of himself on social media posing with firearms.

In addition to the alleged threats, police said Pineiro was wanted on a default warrant out of Worcester Superior Court for distribution of Class A and B narcotics. The charges stem from a 2017 incident in which he allegedly sold drugs to an undercover trooper.

It's unclear when Pineiro will be arraigned or if he has an attorney.
