A Massachusetts man accused of raping two different women at gunpoint in the bed of his truck faced a judge Wednesday morning.
Fifty-one-year-old Joseph Losano of Swampscott was arraigned on two charges of rape in Roxbury District Court in Boston, but authorities said they expect more victims to come forward. He was arrested on Tuesday at his place of employment.
The assistant district attorney present at Wednesday's arraignment said Losano picked up two different prostitutes in Boston in separate instances, took them outside of the city and then raped them at gunpoint in the bed of his truck before dropping them off, throwing money at them as he drove away.
"Even if somebody is engaged in prostitution, they don't get paid to be assaulted or threatened with a gun," ADA Ian Polumbaum said.
Losano was allowed to stay behind closed doors during his arraignment because if more victims step forward, they will need to identify him, the prosecution said in court.
In court, it was revealed that Losano, an honorably discharged Marine who has worked for 20 years as a security guard in retail stores, legally owns five firearms, for which four were accounted.
Prosecutors said Losano tried to work for the Swampscott Police Department and New Hampshire State Police, where one officer described him as violent.
Losano's bail was set at $25,000 for each incident, and his attorney said he most likely will not be able to make it.

His next court appearance will be for a probable cause hearing on June 19.
