A teenager and a toddler were shot in a car Tuesday night in Providence, Rhode Island, according to police.

Authorities said an 18-year-old male and a 2-year-old boy walked into Hasbro Children's Hospital suffering from gunshot wounds. The victims were shot around 9:30 p.m. in a car at the intersection of Pleasant Valley Parkway and Dean Street, police said.

The teen is in stable condition at Rhode Island Hospital. Police told reporter Danielle Kennedy of NBC affiliate WJAR he was undergoing surgery.

The child is at Hasbro Children's Hospital with a minor foot injury, according to police.

Kennedy reported that the toddler's father, a 21-year-old friend of the older victim, was also in the car at the time of the shooting, but was uninjured.

No suspects have been apprehended, police said.
