These New England Cities Are Among the Happiest in the US

New England has some of the happiest cities in the United States, according to a new study from National Geographic, which has ranked the 25 happiest cities in the country.

In Connecticut, the metro area including Bridgeport, Stamford and Norwalk came in 8th, due in part of the “endless cultural experiences.”

In Massachusetts, Barnstable ranked 9th for its "idyllic" atmosphere.

The Manchester-Nashua area of New Hampshire ranked 19th due to its proximity to both Boston and the White Mountains.

Portland, Maine, came in 24th based on metrics such as walkability, access to nature, and civic engagement.

The magazine took into consideration things like healthy eating, learning new things on a daily basis, financial security, dental checkups and more, saying they all “signal happiness.”

Boulder, Colorado came in first. See the full list.
