We start out with plenty of sunshine Thursday, and it’s another feel of late summer weather with many spots getting to 80 degrees.
There is a front arriving later in the morning and afternoon from Canada that will bring in cooler air Friday. That front is now entering Vermont with thicker clouds, and we should see a line of showers and thunderstorms move across from northwest to southeast Thursday afternoon and evening.
Areas that have the most sunshine, with the temperature in the lower 80s, are most likely to get some thunderstorms toward sunset. There’s a slight possibility that we see some damaging wind in a couple of the stronger cells.
For most of us, it’s just a quick shower, with less than a quarter of an inch of rain. But there could be some isolated amounts approaching 1 inch. Wind from the southwest Thursday will generally gust between 15 to 25 mph, but possibly stronger in any thunderstorms.
We have a clear sky Thursday night, with temperatures falling back down to the 40s and 50s north, 50s to near 60 degrees south. High pressure brings a return to sunshine Friday with high temperature in the upper 60s lower 70s.
It will be clear and seasonably cool Friday night, low in the 40s and 50s.

Yet another front comes in on Saturday, very similar to Thursday with sunshine giving way to clouds and a chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms. High temperature will be in the 80s in southern New England and 70s north.
Sunday will be a lot like Friday, with plenty of sunshine and a high temperature in the 60s to lower 70s.

This up-and-down pattern is likely to continue into next week, possibly with one or two days back into the 80s before much cooler air may move late in the week and next weekend.
In other weather notes of interest, Hurricane Lorenzo is strengthening in the eastern Atlantic, and Tropical Storm Karen is slowing down south of Bermuda, and may linger there for days.
