Patriots Players Participate in Best Buddies Challenge

Patriots stars Tom Brady, Julian Edelman and James White hit the field at Harvard Stadium again this year for the 20th annual Best Buddies Challenge football game.

"It’s exciting, so I’m glad my mom signed me up for it. It’s really fun," said 10-year-old Aidan Carter of New Hampshire.

Carter has a rare genetic disorder called Hunter's Syndrome.

It’s his first year with Best Buddies.

The nonprofit, is dedicated to creating opportunities, friendship and employment, for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

"Both of my boys play flag football so when we were given this opportunity we were really excited," said Aidan’s mom Jen Carter.

Soon to be 11-year-old Meredith Lewis of Franklin, Massachusetts, also has a rare genetic disorder called FOX G1.

She’s an official water carrier for this year’s game.

It’s her fourth year with the organization.

Her "M team" raised $130,000 for the Best Buddies this year and her dad says the charity has afforded them opportunities they treasure.

"Getting the word out about FOX G1 and just what Meredith sort of battles through and hit all the buddies that were helping, it’s just unbelievable," said Greg Lewis.

The ride, walk and run in Hyannis Port on Saturday will include 2,000 participants.
