Tom Brady in LA? Chargers Are Team to Watch for Patriots QB, Report Claims

First, the necessary disclaimers: Tom Brady is intent on winning another Super Bowl with the New England Patriots, and the prospects of him leaving the only NFL team he's played for seem very low.

Now, the "but."

Brady technically can become a free agent in March 2020 due to the structure of his contract. And if the 42-year-old quarterback feels like testing the free-agent waters for whatever reason, the Los Angeles Chargers would be "one team to clearly watch" that would have "a unique appeal to Brady on multiple levels," CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora recently reported, citing "sources who know (Brady) well."

Why the Chargers and not, say, Brady's hometown San Francisco 49ers or an iconic franchise like the Chicago Bears?

As La Canfora points out, Brady often trains in Southern California (remember that UCLA workout with Rob Gronkowski?) and has family, friends and business partners in the area, including his personal trainer, Alex Guerrero, and throwing coach, Tom House.

Brady also has become "increasingly engrossed" in Hollywood ventures, per La Canfora, and may consider following in LeBron James' footsteps by moving to L.A. to set himself up for a second career in film production.

As for the football side? The "Dignity Health Sports Park" -- the Chargers' sad excuse for an NFL stadium -- will be replaced in 2020 by the brand-new SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif., that will include a state-of-the-art practice facility and could be a draw for Brady.

Would these factors be enough to convince Brady to ditch the greatest coach in NFL history to play for a team that hasn't won a playoff game in 12 years? We're not betting on it.

But if next March rolls around and Brady starts seriously considering his options, you can throw L.A. into the mix.
