Tornado Warning Cancelled for Barnstable County in Massachusetts

A tornado warning for Barnstable County in Massachusetts has been cancelled.

Some of the locations that were possibly impacted Barnstable, Falmouth, Yarmouth, Mashpee and Hyannis, according to the National Weather Service.

Officials say tornados in Massachusetts are usually obscured by rain, and advise residents to take cover in a basement or interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building.

Drivers are advised to avoid sheltering under highway overpasses. If a driver cannot safely drive away from a tornado, NWS advises to either park your vehicle and stay put or abandon the vehicle and lie down in a low-lying area, and to protect yourself from flying debris.
