Town Worker Arraigned for Child Rape

A town employee in Wayland, Massachusetts, has been arraigned on multiple child rape charges.

Fifty-nine-year-old Donald Gladu, a Framingham resident and a foreman for Wayland's Department of Public Works, is accused of repeatedly raping a girl for nearly a decade, beginning when she was just 5.

The alleged incidents of abuse took place between 1998 and 2006.

"The details of the allegations against this defendant are extremely disturbing," said Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan in a statement, who noted that Gladu is accused of abusing the girl "at several locations."

Gladu faces four counts of rape of a child by force and two counts of indecent assault and battery of a child under 14.

"Mr. Gladu's status is being evaluated," said Wayland Town Administrator Nan Balmer in a statement to necn.

Bail was set at $25,000 surety and $2,500 cash. Gladu must adhere to GPS monitoring and stay away from the victim and her family.

The suspect is due back in court on Wednesday, June 3.
