4 Injured in Crash Involving Tractor-Trailer, Vehicle on Mass. Pike Ramp

Speed may have been a factor in the crash, state police say

A rollover involving a tractor-trailer truck and a vehicle on a Massachusetts Turnpike ramp in Weston Tuesday afternoon sent four people to hospitals, according to state police.

The crash happened at about 12:40 p.m. on the Exit 14 ramp from I-90 eastbound.

Sky Ranger footage of the scene showed the truck on its side and a damaged car being towed away.

A preliminary investigation showed that the Freightliner truck, driven by a 28-year-old man from Monroe, Louisiana, was traveling in the left lane of the exit ramp when it rolled over onto a Nissan Sentra.

The driver of the Sentra, a 59-year-old Framingham man, was taken by medical helicopter to Lahey Hospital in Burlington for treatment of serious injuries.

The driver's passenger, a 24-year-old woman, was also taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The driver of the truck and his 42-year-old male passenger from San Bernadino, California, were taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston for treatment of minor injuries.

The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation but authorities said speed on behalf of the truck driver may have been a factor. So far, no charges have been filed.

The aftermath of the crash was expected to impact traffic into the evening commute.
