Trooper Injured in Crash Involving Tractor Trailer on Interstate 90

A Massachusetts State Police trooper was injured in a crash involving a tractor-trailer on Interstate 90 Friday morning.

The crash happened around 7:20 a.m. on the westbound side of the Massachusetts Turnpike in Framingham at the Edgell Road tank snow gate, according to officials.

Authorities said the impact from the crash pushed the cruiser, a fully marked SUV that was moving at the time, over the guardrail and into the woods.

The trooper, who has not been identified, was taken to UMass Medical Center in Worcester for treatment of unknown injuries. Police said he was conscious and alert.

The driver of the truck, which is registered in Indiana, was not injured.

NBC10 Boston video of the scene caught cranes hoisting the damaged cruiser over an embankment and back onto the road.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by state police.
