MBTA Commuter Rail Train Derails Near North Station: Officials

An MBTA commuter rail train was involved in a low-speed upright derailment Tuesday morning near North Station, according to transit authorities.

Commuter rail company Keolis says Rockport Train 102 experienced a low-speed upright derailment and that a locomotive has been deployed to deliver the train to North Station.

The derailment is affecting several other commuter rail trains. Haverhill Train 287 from North Station will now originate in Malden and is up to half an hour behind schedule, the MBTA tweeted.

Beverly train 191 from North Station was canceled as a result of the derailment. Beverly train 192 from Beverly was also canceled in wake of the incident. Train 160 will accommodate passengers instead.

No injuries were reported in connection to the derailment, according to the MBTA. It is unclear what caused the train to derail.
