UMass Amherst Suspends Fall Programs to Israel

School's decision based on information from multiple sources, including the U.S. Department of State

Fighting in Gaza has prompted the University of Massachusetts Amherst to suspend its education abroad program in Israel for the Fall 2014 semester.

The school says it made the decision to suspend the program based on information from multiple sources, including the U.S. Department of State.

One student was scheduled to begin studies next week at Tel Aviv University and another in October at Bar Ilan University.

UMass says it will fully reimburse students for any non-refundable expenses.
