Utility Poles Catch Fire, Sparking Power Outages in Methuen

Multiple utility poles caught fire Tuesday, leading to power outages in Methuen, Massachusetts.

The fire took place at the intersection of Pelham Street and Danton Drive, according to police.

Derek Licata, an officer and social media specialist with the Methuen Police Department, tweeted video of a worker in a bucket truck being hoisted up to the flames.

National Grid reported that more than 1,200 customers were impacted by outages.

Power was restored shortly before 5:45 p.m., according to National Grid.
