A person was severely injured Sunday after being struck by a boat while swimming off the coast of Wareham, Massachusetts.
Wareham police responded to Bourne Cove after receiving a 911 call around 11:45 a.m.
A Wareham Department of Natural Resources officer found the victim on the shoreline with extensive injuries from the boat’s propeller. The officer began lifesaving first-aid to control the victim’s bleeding. The victim was then stabilized by Wareham EMS and Fire and transported to Tobey Hospital.
There is no immediate word on the victim’s condition.
The operator of the boat stayed on scene and aided the victim until first responders arrived.
Neither the victim nor the boat operator has been identified by officials.
Foul play is not suspected in this incident.
