Crews Clean up Water Main Break in Cambridge, Massachusetts

City officials responded Saturday to the scene of a water main break in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The break occured at Cambridge Street and 5th Avenue around 8 a.m. 

People took to social media showcasing the incident as water was shooting 12 feet high in the air.

While it was an amazing sight to see, it was a major inconvenience for customers on Fifth through Seventh Streets where the water was turned off.

Workers were able to restore service to all residents of the affected area late Saturday evening.

Paving and road repair is expected to be completed Monday or Tuesday.

Drivers were asked to avoid the area as crews worked the scene Saturday.

The exact cause of the break is unknown at this time.
