    Light it up! Boston police invite you out to meet your neighbors and unite to “light up the streets, light up the night.” All participants will receive a flashlight! We also hear the BPD ice cream truck will be serving up Hoodsies! This neighborhood event takes place on Orton Marotta Way on Tuesday, July 17th at 7:30 pm. Walks will be canceled in the event of rain!

    Be informed. Get involved. Boston Parks Department will host a community meeting about renovations at Flaherty Park (130 B Street). Meet at the park on Tuesday, July 17th from 4pm-6pm to let them know what you’d like to see for the park!

    Movie night! Hub Church is hosting not one, but two free movie nights on July 19th and July 20th at M Street Beach at sunset. On July 19th enjoy Sherlock Gnomes and on July 20th it the classic Jurassic Park! Free movie, popcorn and drinks!

    Breath and move! Enjoy a free all-levels vines flow at Castle Island Yoga on July 21st from 10:15am-11:30 am taught by Yoga Around Town. Bring your own mat or towel and meet Castle Island near the information sign at Fort Independence. Classes are FREE, but we ask that you register. Walk-ups are available on a limited basis. Please register to ensure your spot in the class! 

    Get Ripped!Motivated Fitness is hosting a special Ripped by Regan sports and conditioning clinic for ages 14 and up! This program takes place Mondays-Thursdays 7:30pm-9pm. Begins Monday, July 16th. 28 sessions $400, 14 sessions $225. Daily drop-ins $20.

    On your mark, get set, go! Compete in a triathlon right in your own backyard – Southie! The Columbia Threadneedle Investments Boston Triathlon will feature a weekend of events on July 21st and July 22nd and all the action happens along the beaches on Day Boulevard! More than 2,000 athletes are expected to compete in the 10th anniversary of the Boston Triathlon including 2016 Olympian and two-time winner of the Escape from Alcatraz triathlon Ben Kanute, former North American Ironman Champion Angela Naeth, in addition to athletes from 8 countries and 42 states! If swimming, biking and running is not your thing, come out and show your support by cheering for the athletes competing! They love that! If you want to participate you have two options – Olympic Race – 1.5K swim, 35K bike, 10K run with a start time of 6:20 am or the Sprint Race – 750m swim, 17.5K bike, 5.5K run – start time at 8 am!     Public Safety! With recent concerns over the safety of Day Boulevard and Farragut Road, Mass DOT and DCR are partnering up for a special public information meeting on Wednesday, July 18th from 6:30pm-8:30 pm regarding the Day Boulevard Targeted Safety Improvement Project (State Police Driveway to Farragut Road). This meeting will take place at the Curley Community Center.

    Open House! Moakley Park Vision Plan Open House will take place on Thursday, July 19 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Tierney Learning Center located at 125 Mercer Street. The Boston Parks and Recreation Department invites the public to the second in a series of open house events to share thoughts on what residents and park users would like to see in the Moakley Park Vision Plan.
