Snow for Some Through Weekend Ahead of New Storm Next Week

The big storm impacting New England over the last two days is technically still sitting in New England, with the center positioned over Maine, but deep moisture has detached from the storm now.

Instead, spokes of atmospheric energy rotating around the storm will traverse New England Friday into the start of the weekend with impact ranging from snow flurries for some to several inches of snow for others.

For most of New England, Friday is the day with the most clouds building and blotting out the sun and scattered snow showers with heavier snow bursts developing. The concern is for any of these snow bursts to drop a quick solid coating, making roads briefly slick and reducing visibility, akin to summer scattered downpours — some get hit hard, others get very little.

After dark, temperatures will drop below freezing and any lingering road moisture will result in patches of black ice. While most of us will find sun to building clouds but little in the way of snowflakes Saturday, the western slopes of the Green and White Mountains will see continued bursts of snow all the way through Sunday morning, resulting in several inches of new accumulation — up to 4 inches to 6 inches on some of the same areas that saw three feet from the last storm!

Sunday brings fair sky and less wind, regionwide, before the next storm moves near Monday into Tuesday. The early expectation is a dry morning commute Monday, then snow developing sometime in the afternoon and lasting into Tuesday — but it’s early.

Our exclusive in-house guidance suggests plowable snow is a strong possibility for many of us, so we’ll keep you posted. The end of the exclusive Early Warning Weather 10-day forecast shows a pronounced warming trend for at least the start of next weekend.
