A chain of supermarkets that has been slowly expanding through the Greater Boston area over the past several years has opened its latest location in a space where a shopping mall had been.
As reported earlier, Wegmans opened Sunday in Medford at the site of the old Meadow Glen Mall, nearly two years after the location was first announced. The new grocery store joins other locations in Burlington, Chestnut Hill, Northborough, and Westwood, with an upcoming store planned for the Natick Mall as well. (A proposed Fenway location is on hold for now.) An earlier Boston Magazine article mentioned that the Medford location of Wegmans has a total area of 120,000 square feet and includes a market cafe area with various dining options.
Wegmans, which first got its start in Rochester, NY, opened its first Massachusetts location in Northborough in the fall of 2011.
The address for the new Wegmans in Medford is 3850 Mystic Valley Parkway, Medford, MA, 02155. The website for the chain can be found at https://www.wegmans.com/
