What to Know About Encore Boston Harbor Grand Opening

The grand opening of Encore Boston Harbor is just around the corner as patrons prepare for entertainment and surrounding neighborhoods brace for increased traffic.

The $2.6 billion hotel and resort boats more than a dozen restaurants, a late-night last call for alcohol that ends at 4 a.m. and more than 3,000 slot machines. It opens its doors to the public at 10 a.m. Sunday.

"We're no longer a gritty city," said Everett Mayor Carlo DeMaria. "We're a city on the move."

Those who want to stay in one of the more than 600 lavish rooms at the hotel can expect to pay a pretty penny for their lodging.

"We clearly cater to the higher-end segment, but everybody is invited," Wynn Resorts CEO Matt Maddox said.

Encore's website has rooms available that range from around $700 to $2,600 per night for the first few weeks of business.
