Wind Contributes to Blaze That Hurt 4 Firefighters

Officials say the wind at an overnight, four-alarm fire in Boston intensified the blaze, leaving four firefighters injured.

Around 1:30 a.m., flames tore through an office building on Beacon Street.

Two firefighters were burned in the fire. Another sustained a back injury and one other sustained an ankle injury. They are all expected to be okay.

"The wind caused a problem later on once the roof had collapsed. It was very difficult for us to get the rest of the fire out above because it was very, very windy up on the roof line," said Chief Dennis Keeley of Boston Fire.

Due to the close proximity of the buildings and concerns that the fire would spread, dozens of neighbors were evacuated.

The cause of the fire has not been determined. Boston Fire said the blaze would remain under investigation and the status would not change through the evening.
